The pond in front of Concord Mills Mall is a great spot. Last time I went I saw buffleheads, shovelers, ruddy ducks, redheads, scaups, and coots.

You can always come at a different time. Last time we went it was almost dusk and it was really hard to get any good pictures of the Redheads (there were about 30 of them, lifers at the time). I would suggest going in the morning or evening, when the birds are getting ready or starting to roost.

Sometimes the Sunrise Lake in Lancaster, SC is productive.  Canvasbacks have been there for most of the winter but I believe they have left.  Also Vernedale Ponds in East Charlotte is traditionally good, unfortunately released Mute Swans have sort of ruined most of the birding.

Also if you are really lucky the Colonel Beatty lake will hold some good stuff.  Green-winged Teal and Common Goldeneye highlights this year.
